Anyone looking for a day in quiet hills will find it in the Elenydd, Central Wales. About six miles west of Rhayader, this walk route starts from Pant y Gwartheg and takes in the summits of Gorllwyn 2011ft, Drygarn Fawr 2116ft and lonely Llyn Carw at 1749ft. Often overlooked, this lonely corner of the National Park has some excellent limestone features, old quarry workings, a mystery antiquity, and even a World War Two crash site.
