If you’re interested in discovering more about our Club and want to try us out before joining as a full member, you can try us for free by attending two or three of our events (walking and/or climbing) before making your decision.

Before you can participate, there’s a few things we need from you though, mainly to satisfy our liability insurance and data protection requirements. Please read through the following information and complete the form below with your personal details. Then press the ‘Register’ button at the bottom. Our membership secretary will soon be in touch with you to arrange your first outing with us.††

But first, read on.

Risks and safety

All mountaineering activities, including mountain/hillwalking, scrambling and climbing, carry a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and must be responsible for their own actions. Every member and potential member of Gwent Mountaineering Club has a duty of care to themselves, to other members and to the wider public, including those acting for the emergency services and mountain rescue.

Participants in Club events must be appropriately equipped for the activities they participate in. Advice and guidance can and should be sought from experienced Club members. Opportunities exist for informal training, coaching and mentoring as needed.

Participants must read the Club’s guidance on Safety in the Mountains, and should understand the implications and recommendations made therein. Participants must also read the Club’s guidance notes for COVID-19.

When you register to participate using the form below, please tick the appropriate checkbox to indicate that you understand and accept the risks and the responsibilities involved. Tick the appropriate boxes to confirm you have read and will adhere to the guidances on safety and COVID-19.
