Walk: Fforest Fawr area. 25km/15miles, 600m/2000ft ascent (Hard)
Mark will be leading a hard walk of approximately 25km/15miles, 600m/2000ft ascent in the Fforest Fawr area.
The walk is a mixture of paths/tracks and some steep rough grassland. Suitable footwear and clothing/spares to suit the group walking speed are required and gaiters and poles are a good idea.
The route goes west to Carnau Gwynion before heading north to join Sarn Helen and into Cwm Du and the summit of Fan Frynych. It then follows the high ground to Fan Dringarth and Fan Llia. We’ll descend eastwards to cross the Ystradfellte dam then pick up the path south to Pont ar Llia and back to the start.
Meeting point is the village car park (free) in Ystradfellte, OS Explorer Map OL12, grid reference SN929134 for a 10.00am start.
