Walk: Chwarel y Fan and Y Twmpa, from the north. 22.5km/14miles, 990m/3250ft ascent (hard)
A longer alternative to the other walk scheduled for today.
With 22.5km/14miles and 990m/3250ft ascent, this hard walk ascends Rhiw Wen, descends upper Cwm Nant Bwch before following the Nant Isaf to reach Bird House and thence the ridge top at Twyn Tal y Cefn.
Continue to Chwarel y Fan, backtrack to Blacksmith’s Anvil, descend to Capel y Ffin. Ascend Darren Lwyd and continue to summit of Y Twmpa and return to start.
Start 9:30am. Road head at Pen yr Heol, above Tregoyd. Park on grass verge adjacent to chapel hedge…. facing lane helps to allow space for any chapel visitors.
