Our code of conduct
gwentmc has a Code of Conduct we expect all members to abide by.
This Code applies to all individuals attending a gwentmc event or participating in Club activities. This includes members of the Club, potential members, and guests. Events include but are not limited to: walking, climbing, weekend and other trips away, social events and training activities. Ad-hoc events arranged between Club members are also included.
- Respect the natural outdoor environment and minimise your environmental impact.
- Promote positive aspects of walking, climbing and mountaineering (i.e., mental and physical health and wellbeing, nature, culture, education).

- Be a positive role model for the activity you are participating in and/or the role you are volunteering for.
- Respect the rights, dignities and worth of everyone.
- Foster pleasant, respectful and friendly two-way communications between people.
- Take care of your own health and safety, and that of others.
- Do not use illegal drugs at any Club event.
- Use social media and other digital communications appropriately.
- Follow policies, guidelines and best practices laid down by the Club.

- Work together to deliver the Club’s aims.
- Respect the need for confidentiality when you have access to privileged information.
- Maintain and uphold the reputation of the Club, the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), and of mountaineering always.
- If you disagree with the opinion or decision of the Club or person (e.g., a committee member, an event leader) raise the issue appropriately.
