SUMMARY:Walk: Christmas Pudding Walk & Social. 5 miles (Easy)
DESCRIPTION:It’s the annual Christmas Pudding Walk and Social leaving Tretower at 9.30 for a 5 mile walk. The walk is a steep climb up to the Beacons Way\, following the Beacons Way for a couple of miles then heading back towards Tretower mainly through fields\, hopefully getting back to Tretower about 1 pm.There will be refreshments\, mulled wine\, tea and coffee plus mince pies at the Tretower Village Hall but please bring your lunch with you.  This is an opportunity to wish fellow walkers and climbers a Merry Christmas\, sing a few carols and generally have a social time. We will vacate the hall around 2.30 pm.Starting from Tretower Court\, OS Explorer Map OL13\, grid reference SO 185213. \nRegarding parking – we are able to park all along the front of the Tretower gift shop building plus if this area is full they will allow us to park at the back of the car park.  As we are not being charged for the parking it would be a nice gesture to visit the shop.  Also Tretower Court is well worth visiting too. \nFor your safety and the safety of other members\, we advise minimum personal equipment requirements for all our walks.

DESCRIPTION:GMC are organising a weeks high Alpine trek across the Bernese Oberland\, Switzerland next June (note the Oberland trek is fully booked). The Oberland trip is being run as an introduction to Alpine trekking for the club\, so as part of the training Jon has booked 4 nights accommodation in Aviemore\, Scotland from the 24th Feb 2025\, departing on Friday 28th.\nLimited spaces still available.\n\nMartin Skinner (a qualified Winter instructor and member of the Club) has very kindly agreed to join us to give us some snow and ice instruction and practice ready for our trip.\n\nIf you are wanting to join in the training\, you will need Alpine B2 boots\, ice axe and crampons.
