SUMMARY:Walk: Christmas Pudding Walk & Social. 5 miles (Easy)
DESCRIPTION:It’s the annual Christmas Pudding Walk and Social leaving Tretower at 9.30 for a 5 mile walk. The walk is a steep climb up to the Beacons Way\, following the Beacons Way for a couple of miles then heading back towards Tretower mainly through fields\, hopefully getting back to Tretower about 1 pm.There will be refreshments\, mulled wine\, tea and coffee plus mince pies at the Tretower Village Hall but please bring your lunch with you.  This is an opportunity to wish fellow walkers and climbers a Merry Christmas\, sing a few carols and generally have a social time. We will vacate the hall around 2.30 pm.Starting from Tretower Court\, OS Explorer Map OL13\, grid reference SO 185213. \nRegarding parking – we are able to park all along the front of the Tretower gift shop building plus if this area is full they will allow us to park at the back of the car park.  As we are not being charged for the parking it would be a nice gesture to visit the shop.  Also Tretower Court is well worth visiting too. \nFor your safety and the safety of other members\, we advise minimum personal equipment requirements for all our walks.

DESCRIPTION:Walk off those extra kilos\, blow away the cobwebs\, and fill your lungs with bracing winter air. The Chairman’s ‘Christmas Blowaway’ is for those wanting a Sunday walk between Christmas and New Year. \nThe length of the walk will be weather dependent\, to be decided a couple of days beforehand\, once a weather forecast is available. Fine\, dry\, winter weather and we take the longer route. Depressingly wet and windy\, and we’ll take the shorter one. Either way\, we’ll begin from the Pont Cadwgan parking area in the Grywne Fawr valley in the Black Mountains. Map OL13\, grid reference SO SO 267251 at 9:30am. \nIf good or reasonable weather:\n17km/10.5 miles\, 860m/2840ft ascent (Moderate)\nBal Mawr\, Chwarel y Fan and Pan y Gadair Fawr circuit. \nIf poor\, very wet/windy weather:\n12km/7.5 miles\, 530m/1740ft ascent (Easy)\nBal Mawr and Chwarel y Fan with a low-level return. \n
