DESCRIPTION:Around the southern end of the Wye Valley. We start in Chepstow. Via a series of well-known and lesser-known paths we make our way to Tintern\, returning to the start on the west side of the river Wye Valley footpath. Paths are mostly good\, but steep in places. \nStart at 9.30am\, meeting at Drill Hall carpark (GR; ST 536 941)\, off Lower Church St. You will need to follow the one-way system through Chepstow. Small charge for car parking £1.30 at Drill Hall or over £6 at other car parks.\n21km/13miles with 850m/2800feet of ascent. \nNote BST ends. SUMMARY:Walk: Christmas Pudding Walk & Social. 5 miles (Easy)
DESCRIPTION:It’s the annual Christmas Pudding Walk and Social leaving Tretower at 9.30 for a 5 mile walk. The walk is a steep climb up to the Beacons Way\, following the Beacons Way for a couple of miles then heading back towards Tretower mainly through fields\, hopefully getting back to Tretower about 1 pm.There will be refreshments\, mulled wine\, tea and coffee plus mince pies at the Tretower Village Hall but please bring your lunch with you.  This is an opportunity to wish fellow walkers and climbers a Merry Christmas\, sing a few carols and generally have a social time. We will vacate the hall around 2.30 pm.Starting from Tretower Court\, OS Explorer Map OL13\, grid reference SO 185213. \nRegarding parking – we are able to park all along the front of the Tretower gift shop building plus if this area is full they will allow us to park at the back of the car park.  As we are not being charged for the parking it would be a nice gesture to visit the shop.  Also Tretower Court is well worth visiting too. \nFor your safety and the safety of other members\, we advise minimum personal equipment requirements for all our walks.
